show & express
An exciting subject designed for first graders at primary school, combining interactive and fun methods to develop students’ language skills and communication abilities. It draws on proven educational approaches such as "Starfall", which teaches children to read phonetically, fluently, and with comprehension; "Daily 5", which builds reading literacy through independent reading, working with text, reading aloud, word work, and listening to reading; and "The Daily CAFE", which enhances comprehension, accuracy, fluency, and vocabulary expansion during reading.
This subject offers students in the BILIS program the opportunity to learn to read phonetically correctly, develop their reading literacy, and strengthen their comprehension and communication skills. Through these expert methods, students will be supported in expressing their own ideas, describing and presenting logically, thereby building their confidence and ability to express themselves effectively.
storytime
A fun and inspiring subject designed for first graders, offering students the chance to dive into the fascinating world of literature and creative writing. Regular reading of fiction and learning texts supports the development of students' reading literacy, with a focus on independent book reading and working with the Oxford *Reading Tree* series. In the BILIS program, we also focus on developing creative writing and grammar skills, encouraging critical thinking, expanding active vocabulary, and strengthening students’ language abilities. Storytime is a place where children are carried away into the world of imagination while developing their language and literary skills.

super friends skills
An innovative subject focused on developing social skills in first graders at primary school. We use the PATHS methodology (Promoting Alternative Thinking Strategies), developed in the USA, which is specifically designed for children aged 6 to 9, helping them navigate challenging situations and strengthen their abilities in social interactions. In a playful learning environment, the BILIS program addresses various topics such as classroom rules, group cohesion, understanding anger, emotions, self-control, basic problem-solving, fairness, friendship, expectations, and other key aspects of social life. Super Friends Skills is a place where children learn how to be better friends and how to successfully face everyday challenges.

curious labs
A progressive subject focused on nurturing students’ curiosity and interest in science at the primary school level. This program is designed to expand vocabulary, test knowledge, and improve learning habits through a variety of activities such as experiments, projects, and group work. In BILIS classrooms, children explore the basics of science in a fun and engaging way, helping them better understand the world around them while strengthening their critical thinking and problem-solving skills. Curious Labs is a place where children look forward to discovering new things and where a strong foundation is laid for their future education in the sciences.

english language playground
A dynamic subject focused on reinforcing the language skills gained during the afternoon English sessions. We concentrate on developing communication abilities and vocabulary across all taught subjects. Through a series of small tasks—such as specific stories and real-life situations from the English-speaking world—we help children actively expand their imagination, creativity, and ability to express themselves clearly and confidently. Using interactive methods, we strengthen vocabulary and practice understanding spoken language and audio recordings. Our English teachers apply proven techniques to support, train, and enhance students’ presentation skills. An essential goal is also to teach children how to listen effectively and comprehend spoken language.

english explorers club
An exciting subject focused on supporting language skills through the method of visual presentation. Students are given the opportunity for direct contact with observed reality, which helps enrich their thinking and make abstract concepts more concrete. As part of this project, children in the BILIS program spend the entire year exploring the culture, customs, traditions, historical events, and everyday life of English-speaking countries. Through interactive activities and playful scenarios, they learn to respond to events in fictional situations and process a series of connected actions. The English Explorers Club not only develops language skills but also nurtures essential abilities, competencies, and character traits that are key to future success.

math magic
An engaging subject focused on developing mathematical skills in first graders. Designed to support the learning and reinforcement of math content, this subject offers students the opportunity to practice and improve their vocabulary while testing their knowledge, skills, and learning habits in mathematics. In the BILIS program, students use modern methods to explore and solve problems through hands-on experiences, discovering solutions independently—all in English. Math Magic is a place where children get excited about math and discover its magic.
About the Program
In Brief
The BILIS program integrates English into standard education starting from the 1st grade of primary school. Professional educators, whose native language is English, handle foreign language education.
Even non-bilingual children become bilingual and are on the path to successfully passing the B2-level international language exam by the 4th grade. The entire program can be implemented at any Slovak primary school.

How does it work?
While the school provides education in Slovak, specialized pedagogical staff of the BILIS program, in cooperation with Slovak teachers, oversee the teaching of English. Students are approached individually and openly, learning English simply and naturally. The methodology for both languages is well-developed, interconnected, and taught continuously. Children cover the same curriculum as their peers in standard education, but thanks to 12 hours of English per week, they are effectively and intuitively prepared for local international, bilingual, or foreign schools.

Our Tools & Methods

show & tell
Using the "Starfall" method, BILIS teaches children to read phonetically correctly, fluently, and with comprehension. Using the "Daily 5" method, it develops reading literacy by introducing independent reading, working with written text, reading aloud, working with words, and listening to spoken text. Through "The Daily Cafe" method, we maximize comprehension, accuracy, fluency, and vocabulary expansion while reading. With these specialized methods, we teach students to express their own thoughts, describe them logically, and present them.
